05/04/2012 Show Recap

Happy Friday dudebros!

and of course May the Fourth (heehee) be with you.

Today is the day of the long awaited Guac-Off, yup it is the exciting day everyone has being talking about, preparing for, and the stomachs have bean yearning for, and what an excitement filled day it was!

First there was tequila popsicles, there was also a drink specialist making, what I was told, was the best Margaritas ever, but lets go back to those popsicles, many people had multiple so whatever you heard on the Friday show, remember, it was likely by the end somebody was buzzed (more reasons why it was a great show).

Also this girl to the left was actually not in studio but I figure it is a good visual while you are reading the blog, yup- your welcome.

Now the show started off with Marlon Wayans stopping by, he happened to be walking through the building and Covino and Rich said, hey why don’t you just come and sit with us. Of course he said yes, because he would say no to a room filled with Guacamole, tortilla chips, bottles of Patron, and tequila popsicles (better mental image for how the day was).

Then the guest of honor Sunny Anderson came in, who was hilarious and what sounds like a great cook (so great that even Spot had to vote for her), she made a guacamole, that was basically unfair for the competition. She called it The Smokey Crabamole (guess what’s in it… or I’ll just tell you)

Her guacamole consisted of:

-20 Avocados

- Pablanos- a mild chili pepper that she put in the oven on 400 degrees after sprinkling a little olive oil on it

-Hungarian Paprika

-Cumin

-one whole red onion

-key limes (because they are less acidic)

-micro cilantro

-a pinch (extremely small amount) of liquid smoke

and well this guacamole beat out all the rest so I suggest you try it out (it also sounds extremely delicious and made it one of those days it stinks to be a Jew)

Of course when she was announced as winner two things were said:

1. “Can you smell what the gauc is cooking” because she is awesome enough to say things like that.

2. She will be back next year to defend her title (going to hold her to that)

In 2nd place was Rich’s mystery guest: King Carlos (who Covino voted for but Rich didn’t), he won the guac off the very first year it happened, and Carlos actually tied second place with his own Guacamole (he made two).

In 3rd place was Spot- and yes Spot, we all know, if you weren’t so busy being the producer your Guac would have won

And in last place was Doug of Iloveroadhead.com, I guess he is best when it’s Skinnie and Minnie, not just Skinnie alone, but he was still awesome, and helped move the clean up process along.

Definitely one of my most eventful days on the Covino and Rich show, next time though I am sneaking away tequila…

Hope you enjoyed the festivities!

Happy May the fourth!

050/03/2012 Show recap

Hello Dudebros!

Happy thirsty thurrrsday (my favorite day of the week)

Covino realized all his fans should be very thankful, as he said: “I’m losing my mind and you are reaping all the benefits”

so between his mind being blown and just losing his mind to please the audience, well it should be an interesting summer.

Another reason for an interesting summer is all the exciting, nail biting, giddy with anticipation blockbusters that will be hitting (or already hit) screens. Now some may disagree but the top 20 or so summer movies, according to IMDB, can be seen here (click me!).

I agree with a good amount of this list- except for the movies I never heard of- one movie I am definitely looking forward to is Ted. Yup the bear movie, now The Avengers looks really cool as well as Batman rises, but well I’m currently in the midst of finals so all I am looking forward to is a stupid funny movie and Mark Wahlberg shirtless…two things I am sure TED has.

Tell me that trailer does not look hilarious? Ok, this movie didn’t break into the Top ten anticipated movies, but it still looks hilarious and can you really go wrong with a Seth Mcfarlane movie?

I mean there is a line in the movie that goes: “Fuck you thunder, you can suck my dick” and Mila Kunis is in it?

Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, a talking douchebag teddy bear- yup definitely convinced.

From Mark Wahlberg to Marc Summers, yup the host of Double Dare- I don’t know about anyone else but I dreamed of being on that show, sort of. My family immigrated here so my parents English  was not that great back then (or now really), my mom also has the old country attitude so I can imagine them telling her to get do something and her yelling at them, probably would have made a producer cry…

ok, so thank g-d I was never on Double Dare, but Marc Summers still awesome, and as we learned, there are so many reasons why.

First he explained, it is true, all hosts do in fact know each other, he hung out with Bob Barker, Letterman, and had a couple of stories, and praises, about Ryan Seacrest.

He also got to, in a way, do something Covino and Rich dream of- he got to throw out the first pitch, but at Fenway Park, because for some reason he is a Red Sox fans (I look forward to the angry letters). He said one of the things that prepared him for that first pitch was little league so- SEE SPOT! Little league is an important part of childhood, it clearly prepares you for the rest of your life, and Rich said he does want to be a talk show host so he better prepare his little league stories, luckily we know has them…plenty of them.

Now for many guys you would think hanging out with a group of girls would be like this:

Covino discovered, it is actually not so, he found that he, a radio personality, could not even get a word in, he was back in grammar school having to raise his hand, hoping someone will give him the opportunity to speak (for those wondering that didn’t happen). He basically turned into the woman at a superbowl party,  he was preparing snacks, asking anyone if they needed a refill on their drink- and only speaking when spoken to…

Think about that next time you have the opportunity to hang out with a group of girls, it may not live up to the expectations movies and, well porn, has coerced you into believing.

Enjoy the friday Guac-Off everyone!

CONGRATULATIONS TO SUNNY ANDERSON, the 2012 GUAC OFF CHAMPION!

2012 Covino & Rich Guac Off

Her Spicy Crab-amole proved to be superior to all other Guacs. Listen as she describes what goes into her now award-winning guacamole:

If you want to make her Guac for your Cinco de Mayo party, here’s the full recipe (courtesy of Sunny):

Sunny’s Smoky Crab-a-mole
Recipe courtesy Sunny Anderson, 2012

4 poblano peppers, tops removed and seeded
2 tablespoons olive oil
20 avocados, halved and flesh removed
1 1/2 cups finely chopped red onion
4 ounces micro cilantro, chopped
2 lbs (about 35-40) key limes, juiced (watch the seeds!)
24 ounces Mexican crema
2 lbs lump crab meat, cleaned of all shell debris
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon Hungarian paprika
1/2-1 teaspoon liquid smoke, to taste
1/4 cup hot sauce (recommended brand: Frank’s Red Hot)
1/2 cup pickled jalapeno juice (save the jalapenos for nachos)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Rub each poblano with olive oil and place on a baking sheet in oven. Cook until charred and blackened on one side, the flip. Do this until all sides are charred, about 15-18 minutes total. Remove and place on a plate in the refrigerator or freezer until cooled. Remove thin skin that is blistered and finely chop the flesh of each. Add to a large bowl and season with a sprinkle of salt..

Add all remaining ingredients in the same large bowl and season with a generous sprinkle of salt and a nice helping of freshly ground black pepper. (Cook’s note: when adding ingredients to the bowl, namely the seasonings, try to sprinkle them all over so the flavors blend easily). Mash vigorously with a potato masher until smooth. Taste and add a bit more salt or liquid smoke if needed.

Hit her up on Twitter @SunnyAnderson to congratulate her on her win! (Click here for a quick post) The Guac Off definitely wouldn’t have been the same without her.

Here are the final standings for the 2012 Guac Off

WINNER: Sunny Anderson
2nd (tie): King Carlos
2nd (tie): Dave
3rd: Producer Spot
4th: Doug

2012 Covino & Rich Guac Off

We also have to thank our friends at Patrón for providing us with drinks for the Guac Off. Patrón mixologist Walter Easterbrook (of The Bowery Hotel in NYC) whipped up margaritas throughout the whole competition, not only for us, but for all those tasting the guac. They even surprised us with Patrón Popsicles (recipe below), courtesy of King of Pops. Here are a couple of recipes for the best tasting margaritas, using the best Patrón Tequila:

Patrón Margarita
1 1/2 oz Patrón Silver tequila
2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz Agave Nectar
*Walt’s secret tip: Add a little fresh ginger for a little kick*

Cabrerra Coacktail (Play on a Margarita)
1 oz Patrón Reposado tequila
1/2 oz Patrón Citrónge orange liqueur
1/2 Orange juice
1/2 lime
2-3 dashes of tabasco
1/2 Agave
Cinnamon orange slice as Garnish. Combine and shake and strain over ice.

Blackberry Ginger Lemonade Patrón Popsicles

2.5 cups fresh squeezed cane juice (or simple syrup)
1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/8-1/4 cup fresh squeezed ginger juice to taste
2-4 oz Patrón Silver to taste
pinch salt

Blend whole blackberries, cane juice, lemon juice, ginger juice, and salt in blender for 30-60 seconds until blackberries are broken down.
Strain out blackberry seeds with wire strainer.

Pour in pop molds, add sticks.
Freeze 5 hours or until completely frozen.

5/2/12 Show Recap

Hello World……

Happy Hump Day dudebros!! Hope you guys are enjoying this shitty, rainy, cloudy weather on the east coast. Man I know April showers brings May flowers but damn 2 days in and no hot weather yet. April didn’t even have that many hot days just in the beginning of the month. Either way you know the deal ANOTHER classic Covino and Rich Show under wraps. Today seemed more a little laid back but a very hilarious show in case you missed it check it out on the replay tomorrow. Let’s kick start this Sweetness!!

Alright so I walked in the studio a little late today (Sorry Christian!!) I am heading out of state this weekend but that has nothing to do with this, anyway Nicole from “The Morning Mash Up”  came into the studio and wanted to ask another guys opinion on her topic she brought up. She got her mans consent but she just wanted to see what other guys and really the Dudebro and Dudegirl nation feels. OK brace yourself now…she wanted to know if hooking up with another girl is considered cheating? She hooked up with another girl at her Bachelorette party in the Dominican Republic, also to add she use to hook up with girls.(I’m guessing before she hooked up with her man now)

The guys were stunned themselves (Including Rich) The best advice they could giver her was obviously she is with her man now and loves him very much just continue communicating and connecting with each other. Her man Matt said he is fine with it but cheating for him is her with another man….PENIS is considered cheating…in case you dudebros NEED to know!!

Figured you guys wouldn’t mind a few pics ;-)

From hot sexy chicks making out to NYC’s man TIM TEBOW!!! Yes ya’ll it’s time for some sport news…..(Ladies if your man doesn’t answer you right away know he is READING this and probably in the ZONE. Mind you he is READING, So   word from the NY Jets head coach Rex Ryan is saying Tebow and Sanchez are looking “Incredible.” He is not worried with the rumors of the two not getting along later in the season, who is gonna get the ball more and who is gonna be making those big plays this year. He did say he plans on using both very much, Sanchez might start out first and be the main guy but he definitely has special plans for Tebow and plans on using him for a few plays in between Sanchez. I must say I’m hyped for this years season it’s going to be epic!!

Also breaking news during the Covino and Rich show 4 defensive players for the New Orleans Saints are suspended with out pay, 2 are suspended for a few games since they got traded to different teams. I must say they had it coming to them all that extra dough you made for knocking the fuck out of another player or almost injuring him or killing him they deserve it. Last time I checked don’t NFL players make millions?? maybe  a few $100,000. I’ll take that any day and yet they still make a pool to score an extra $5-$10,000. Maybe the guys and I Should have a pool of who can bang the most chicks in a week. Then we could get ass and cash!! yeaaaaaa lmao I mean just look at how stupid this sounds knock a person out make a quick $5,000 I should pull a WWF move and Spear the shit out of Spot just because I’m not getting paid yet!!  Maybe then I’ll get a quick 20 bucks off him, WTF has this world come to!? LETS JUST PLAY FOOTBALL!!!

Alright dudebros before I end this another major discussion the guys brought up was……Can you trust your EX-Girlfriend helping you with something or just trust her at all even if you broke up the relationship in good terms…..Hmmmmmmmmmm Hit us up on the form and let us know your answer to this…..CovinoandRich.com, 1-888-996-2946 I also want to mention my condolences goes out to the Seau’s Family, a big loss for the NFL legend he passed away today no word on the details but rumor is it was a suicide. Again say a prayer for Junior tonight R.I.P. brother.

Until the next time Dudebros…………………………..Please use your head and understand we all are children of God taking your own life is NEVER worth it.   LoVeLiveLIFE”

Show Recap 05/01/2012

Hello Dudebro!

It’s ticklesack tooooosday!

The show starts off with Elizabethe Hurley looking just as great as ever!

She looked amazing, and made us think about other actors we have seen and how they have changed over time. One thing is those that have now gone gray and those that have gone white- hair that is. Which would you want? The Leslie Nielson?

Or the George Clooney?

Both pull it off well but which would you prefer? Greying or getting white hair young isn’t always fun but when you get older it gives you a nice suave look, but which would be better the white or gray? Covino believes that a silvery white shine is much nicer, it looks much more elegant, the gray hair tends to look more boring.

Regardless white, gray if you look like the guys about it will work out well, if you don’t then it’s a 50/50.

From looking suave to looking like a douchebag, let’s talk about Amare Stoudemire hitting the glass after the Knicks/Heats game. Now when you get mad don’t break expensive things and don’t mess yourself up. Stoudemire hurt his self image by behaving like that and he is now out for a couple of games because his hand needs to be stitched up.

Also if you get angry don’t grab something expensive, what has  your anger done for you if you broke your 2000 dollar Macbook? Gotten rid of your macbook and now you need to shell out another 2000 dollars, see so next time you are angry find the cheap chine, throw a child’s chair, or hell just throw down some plastic plates, don’t make your anger control you and end up owing money.

Then Steven Ward came in to visit, and well he explained the problem with women- he explained that woman want to be so independent now, they want to constantly fix themselves and be better, while guys are happy the way they are and doing the minimum, they don’t want to go out, work out and such.

It is also why he says South American woman are better, they want the guy to take care of them, they aren’t constantly emasculating the guy by trying to show they are just as tough and strong.

Also my favorite Steven Ward line of the day: “guys don’t be afraid to be assholes, sometimes you have to keep that bitch in line”

Please don’t hit a woman and call her a bitch, you want to tell a woman she is out of place that is fine…but, well keep that bitch in line sounds like a great way to piss that woman off, or turn her on, some women are weird.

Point is, guys don’t be afraid to man up, that part is true, yes some women want to show how tough they are, but for the most part women still like tough guys, just show her that your a man in a cool nice way, not in a “keep that bitch in line” route.

Here is also the video of the autistic child Covino and Rich were talking about, he is playing Piano Man and it is 13 different types of amazing:

And here is another hilarious video:

This reporter got to interview St. Louis Cardinals player David Freese, she got to ride The Freeze with him at six flags and embarass herself on television. She acted like a giddy teenager, it is fine to get excited but she bordered between creepy and embarassing, calling him her boyfriend in the beginning, and she looks much older than him-not in a hot way- so that definitely adds to it. Click here to check out the link

Nothing better than to end a ticklesack tuesday with a chick that wants to be all over someones sack, don’t think Freese jump on that ticklesack option, but then again, doesn’t seem many would.

enjoy your Toooosday,

later dudebros
