Hey Dudebros,

Hope you enjoyed your Mother’s Day weekend or got someone pregnant so you could celebrate it next year, let’s kick off the week with a recap of today’s show. Of course you know that Covino & Rich is your source for trending topics. The guys made fun of Kanye West’s incident with the TMZ papparazzi throughout the whole show. Wow he has asuch a short temper. The Charles Ramsey viral song “Dead Giveaway” with 11,000,000 + views on Youtube this has become more than a story but a pop culture phenomenon which led Covino to the question: Is eating rib equivalent to breaking bread with someone? Of course it is. We love the song, but remember Rich was the first one to remix this song, but he took a different approach and focused on the interview where Charles Ramsey says “I’m a MAN, BRO”. After a long week vacation we’re excited to have Spot back in the studio keeping things under control. Spot went with his wife on a postponed Honeymoon to the Dominican Republic where he ate mangu & chorizo everyday.  Spot offered up a few observations about his trip and told us a few stories about things that happened while he was over there.

Rich gave us another one of his sports theories. Rich was thinking that sometimes in sports it’s all about the luck of the draw and it’s not only about getting picked by a team, but it’s more about your surrounding circumstance. Sometimes there could be a great player on a team, but he could be in the shadows because of another standing in his spotlight. Sometimes it takes an injury in order to see a player rise from the ashes and become a known name, take for instance the whole Jeremy Lin “Linsanity” period. It’s definitely an opportunity that a lot of athletes wish for themselves on top of all that money.

Covino had a question that he proposed to the dudebro nation today, he asked if it’s okay for a man to rub one out while in bed with his woman? We had a long discussion about this and we had the phone lines go off the hook as caller after caller chimed in on the subject. The majority seemed to say that it was fine. Rich’s wife Sarah even called in and said it was ok, if at first she wasn’t available. Although most men felt comfortable enough to just rub one out without hesitation Rich still felt that there was a secrecy element and that he would be ashamed if he got caught.

The guys spoke about the upcoming release of Anchorman 2 and mentioned how dumb the movie is because Rich watched it over the weekend and saw it from a different perspective because a few years ago when it came out it was so overquoted that it had lost most of it’s humor, but now after a few years the smoke has settled and he was able to watch it as if it was new and appreciate it a little more, so we asked the dudebrro nation to give us their nominations for “Greatest Dumbest Movie” of all time and we had a ton of calls pour in and we got many great suggestons such as Wayne’s World, Tommy Boy & Pootie Tang, but the movies that made the top 3 list are:

  1. Anchorman
  2. Dumb & Dumber
  3. Billy Madison

We all know Covino & Rich is the home to conspiracy’s and exposees, well today Covino wanted to talk about something that was bothering him. He said he’s tired of hearing songs that are samples of samples. Covino brought up a new song called “The One” by Tamar Braxton and he realized it was a sample of Biggie’s “Juicy” which was sampled from MTume’s “Juicy Fruit”. Coivino coined the term 3G sampling meaning this is the 3rd time a song has been brought back. Covino is convinced that this is what is going to happen from now on that songs that have already been sampled will be revived for another go around. So within a few years we’ll forget who the original artists who wrote some of the most timeless songs are because the only version of the song that will be remembered is the most current one.

Enjoy your week

Work Hard & play hard

5-06-13 Recap

Hey Dudebros,

The guys kicked off Monday by recapping the Mayweather vs. Guerrero fight, the guys felt that the fight was a bit boring and that Mayweather played it defensively. You can’t hate the man though he has an impeccable record and he wants to win and if putting on a dodging and weaving show is what he has to do to keep his record then who are we to say anything. This led to further discussion about greatness, the guys mentioned how in order to understand victory you need to understand defeat. The guys also recapped Game 1 of the Knicks vs Pacers game saying how some fans are contrasting it to the days when Reggie Miller was considered the New York Killer.

Today the Farrah Abraham sex tape was released and Covino & Rich weren’t even excited for it. They think Farrah is the biggest trash and that she’s not a role model to anyone. They think she’s a fli flopper and that she’s only looking to extend her 15 minutes in the spotlight. Remember Dudebros: Usually Coivino & Rich don’t agree on anything, so when they do then it must mean something. This sex tape will be her legacy and that’s sad. Rich proposed a thought saying are we becoming desensitized to porn? More specifically celebrities doing porn? Partially we agree yes, but at the same we’re always going to be curious to know what a chick looks like naked.

The guys have been saying for a long time already, but communication is key. Covino & Rich believe that this generation’s communication skills are diminishing and the only people who truly possess good communications skills are old people. Newly drafted Jets player Geno Smith was reported to have been on the phone distracted while owners and scouts were attempting to negotiate with him at the football combines before he was drafted and led to him being taken less serious and dropping a whole round in the draft. This really upsets Covino & Rich because of how our society has become.

You gotta love Covino & Rich’s observations at times. Just when I think I know everything they’re about to say they catch me by surprise. Today they were talking about last Friday’s Guac-Off competition and how Spot won this year’s title. Rich broke it down by explaining how the contest was designed for Spot to win. He said that the first guacamole wasn’t that good, and then the 2nd one ran out too fast and the next one wasn’t even a guacamole, it was more of a dip. So of course Spot just because he made extra it allowed him to get more votes. Then the guys made fun of the fact that Spot has never won anything in his life and this is probably the Superbowl for him. But Congratulations to Spot for competing and taking time to make some delicious guacamole for everyone here at SiriusXM? Will he repeat next year? Or Will Sunny Anderson come back with a venegeance and regain her title? We’ll see what happens, keep it locked on Covino & Rich everyday noon to 4pm

Peace Out

4-29-13 Recap

Hey Dudebros,

It’s the last week of April so throughout this whole week we will be counting down to Friday for our annual Guac-Off that will be held in our SiriusXM studios in which several friends and guests have been asked to bring their best guacamole to compete for this year’s title. The guys kicked off the show by recapping this past weekends fights. The guys couldn’t help it, but they had to shed light on Jon “Bones” Jones’ messed up toe and compare it to Spot’s. He jacked his toe up so bad and the worse part was he didn’t even feel it. So at least we know Spot isn’t alone in this world. The guys also brought up the fact that Joe Rogan has fallen from grace. He used to be a trim, tanned guy and now he’s all big, bald and sweaty. Speaking of falling from grace, it was announced that Tim Tebow was released from the New York Jets this morning so the guys had to bring it up during the show. The guys talked about how much hype was behind him and how he might have to accept a role playing a different position on a different team? What’s going to happen to him now? We’ll keep you updated, but like the guys said all the praying in the world can’t help him now. Today’s shocking story of the day was that NBA player Jason Collins announced in an interview that he was gay making him the first active sports athlete to openly admit this. The guys discussed how nobody is going to care because it was Jason Collins, because nobody knows who he is. If it had been a player like Kevin Durant or Tim Duncan then we would have a worthwhile story on our hands, but nobody cares about a bench player who plays on the lower tier Washington Wizards who only averaged 4.8 points per game throughout his career.

Gary Busey stopped by the studio to hang out with Covino & Rich and talk about his elimination from Celebrity Apprentice and talk about his career and all the crazy antics he’s constantly involved in. Busey gave Covino & Rich advice about everything, which made for a worthwhile interview. oYou definitely have to take a listen if you missed it earlier. Check out the INDIE vaults on SiriusXM’s website and look under On Demand. Gary Busey was fun to talk to and have in the studio we definitely hope to see him in more movies, as if he doesn’t already have enough under his belt. Check him out on Twitter @TheGaryBusey

We also had Director/ Screen Writer/ Author Gregory Widen stop by the studio to promote his book “Blood Makes Noise”. Widen has written screenplays for big blockbuster hits such as “Back Draft”, “Prophecy” & “Highlander”. His new book is available on Amazon, you should definitely check it out if you’re a big fan of his movies. He hopes to hopefully turn this book into a movie so you heard him here on Covino & Rich first.

Covino called out Rich about an answer he gave on Friday’s Smush game. He said he didn’t want to let it slide, but Rich was given the clues: Player from the Red Sox who was recently on the news for saying “This Is our f****** city + Deceased Rapper who was a member of NWA, and he answered- David Ortiz-Boz. David Ortiz + T-Boz. Covino made fun of him for giving the wrong answer when the answer was David Ort-Eazy-E (get it David Ortiz + Eazy-E) He got NWA confused for TLC. And T-boz isn’t dead. Covino said that has to be in the top 3 worse answers ever given during the Smush game.

The guys brought up a story about an Oklahoma City Thunder cheerleader who was insulted in an article written by a columnist about her being chunky. The guys discussed it and thought it was wrong that she was insulted, especially by a female columnist. They said that yes a cheerleader should be in top shape, but she wasn’t as bad as this columnist made it seem. The team shouldn’t kick her out at this point just because attention has been bought to the situation if there was no requirements before why would they all of a sudden instill rules and regulations? That would be discrimination. Anyways as long as she’s still doing her job to the best of her abilities I see no reason to keep her out, just don’t put her on top of that triangle.

Towards the end of the show Covino pointed out a theory that all these jugbands like Mumford & Sons & FUN are all the same and he figured out their pattern. So Covino, Rich and Spot formed their own jugband on the show and began singing songs about whatever was on their mind. Of course Spot got kicked out about 3 minutes later, but they reinstated him once he started getting the harmonies in tune. maybe the next Ticklesack song will be a tribute to the jugbands? And by the way have you ordered your copy of “Ticklesack IVSkin” yet? Get on it then

Peace Out

4-26-13 Recap

Hey Dudebros,

It was an eventful Friday on the Covino & Rich  Show we had a a couple of great guests come through so let’s kick off by recapping what the guys talked about at the top of the hour and how could we not mention the NFL Draft? Rich of course brought up the fact that Manti T’eo didn’t get chosen in the 1st round, Rich also calculated that it takes about 6 minutes for them to get through each draft pick which is way too long. Rich admitted to falling asleep while watching the Draft. Speaking of people moving up in the world today we started a new hash tag #Spotortunity, we want Spot to become the next big boss of the Indie Channel so show some support by tweeting out that hash tag.

Covino & Rich told stories of girls they hooked up with that made themselves too available to them. The guys discussed that when a guy is hooking up with a girl there needs to be a chase aspect or else it’s too easy and it makes it less special if the girl is too willing.  Rich told the story of a girl who told him that they were meant to be together after only 1 day of hanging out, then he told us the story about a girl he met in Vegas who wanted him to get her pregnant that same night they met so she could become a U.S Citizen, And Covino concluded the segment by telling a story about a former intern who made him a powerpoint presentation telling him how awesome he is. Cool StoryBros.

Georges St. Pierre stopped by the studio for a few minutes to hang out with the guys and he was a blast to have in the studio. We talked to him about his 24-2 record and how it is being a fighter in the UFC. He came by to promote his new book “The Way Of The Fight” which is an autobiography that focuses on how he overcame bullying. The highlight of the whole interview was after the interview finished when right as he was about to leave he recorded a liner for us in which he said “This is Georges St. Pierre and I’m hanging with Covino & Rich and you can UFC-These nuts”. That will definitely be a classic line on the show. Hopefully we can make it trend? Check him out on Twitter at @GeorgesStPierre.

So here’s the question of the day to the dudebro nation: Would you allow a company to wrap your car in ads for $300 a week? We had quite a debate about this topic. Rich thinks it’s cheesy and that no man should allow his car to be used for marketing. Covino on the other hand wouldn’t mind. somehow this discussion led to the fact that Covino owns a Mercedes SUV and Rich told him that he only owns one as a status symbol. Covino argued that Rich was wrong, but they went back and forth for quite a while stating their points. At the end of the discussion we researched the claim and found out that it was a hoax that the company Rockstar really isn;t offering $300 a week and that it was one of those online hoaxes that promises people an opportunity but turns out to be a scam. Well at least it generated a good topic on the show.

Covino had a theory about Macklemore’s wardrobe and how this trend of going to thrift shops to find your style is going to be a short lived trend. As we discussed it we dove into the subject and really took a look at how kids used to have manufactured styles, but now thrift shops allow kids to manufacture their own style, so are kids now more willing to go to the thrift shop rather than the mall? That’s the question, and it looks like this trend is strongly picking up and we have no idea where it’s going. Thanks Macklemore.

Towards the end of the show we played Smush and had a few callers call in and try their hardest to take 2 clues and concoct a compound answer. This game has become a Friday tradition and we hope to keep playing it because we have movies and CD’s we want to give out to the Dudebro nation.

Anyways another week in the books. Check out the replays this weekend On Demand

4-24-13 Recap

Hey Dudebros,

Hey it’s Hip Hop Hump Day, meaning it’s the middle of the week and we’re here to lift up your spirits and bring you the finest entertainment on this planet (until they begin establishing radio stations up in Mars in a few years). The guys gave us a hip hop update playing Pitbull’s (or as the guys call him Pitbulge) new song “Feel The Moment” which uses a sample from the 80′s song “Take On Me” by A-Ha. Also the guys played a clip of an auto-tuned remix of Stephen A. Smith talking about Lebron James. Check it out right here:

Today I learned that Covino missed out on a lot of t.v during the 90′s so he doesn’t get a lot of pop culture references, he barely gets the ones that are going on nowadays. but we’ll get more into catchphrases a little later on in the recap. We had Nicole from “The Morning Mash-up” join us for a few minutes and they discussed how Nicole went off on Ryan about his alcoholism. For those of you who don’t know Rich does “The Morning Mash-Up” every morning on Sirius Hits 1 along with Stanley T, Ryan & Nicole and they have their own drama and battle on that show, so for those of you who are fans of the famous Rich Vs. Covino debates tune into Hits 1 early mornings to hear them go at each others necks as well.

Will everyone online who is doing the condom snorting challenge please stop? I mean wow we have literally seen it all at this point and we don’t want to see you sticking a condom through your nose. Covino didn’t like the fact that Rich was talking about and they got right into it. They exchanged a few words back and forth, but overall the public needs to be informed about what kind of stupidity is being uploaded to Youtube by people these days and you know Covino & Rich is your source for commentary on the most trending videos, cause if you see it chances are we’ve seen it too and we’re ready to give you our 2 cents.

Today’s question of the day arose when Rich saw Selena Gomez walking in the hallway and was hypothetically asked what he would do if she came onto him. So Rich reversed the question and asked the dudebro nation “What would you do if someone at work aggresively hit on you? would you tell your significant other?” We had a few callers weigh in and tell us the usual “honesty is the best policy” and “that communication needs to be open” blah blah blah. Listen, we’re all different and we would all react differently because we’re all at different stages of our lives. Some of us cheat, and the rest of us lie.

Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon on CBS’s “Big Bang Theory” swung by the studio and it was a lot to fun to chat with him for a bit. They made fun of the fact that Covino got his catchphrase “Buzzinga” wrong and that he pronounced it like “Ba-Zing!!!”. We talked to him about the kind of music he listens to, and he admitted that he went through a phase when he listened to Mary J. Blige’s “Real Love” and that it’s probably the only song on his iPod by a black artist. We asked him about the nerd culture and how it’s risen to fame and he said that the rise of the nerd occured as the show gained popularity so it was parallel to the shows success. Covino asked him how it felt to be one of the biggest stars on t.v and he was very humbled by the fact that he’s working on a show where he loves the character and has fun. Check him out on the 7th season of the “Big Bang Theory” on CBS. check your local listings or just turn to any random channel and I’m pretty sure you’ll see him on syndication there.

We also had Grae Drake from Rotten Tomatoes join us in the studio and she was fun to hang with she put us down on the whole process of how it is to work for Rotten Tomatoes and be a film critic. She reviewed some of the upcoming summer blockbusters and gave us a breakdown of each and every movie. She basically said that America is tired of post apocalyptic, zombie and war movies. She also shared her Adam Sandler Theorem with us which says that Adam Sandler was only funny in the 90′s and early 2000′s and when he plays a underdog character that’s when his movies are any good.

Another day in the books. Come back another time
